What Are Sibshops?
Sibshops are an opportunities for brothers and sisters of children with special health and developmental needs to obtain peer support and education within a recreational context.
To the siblings who participate, Sibshops are lively celebrations of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of kids with special needs. Sibshops acknowledge that being the brother or sister of a person with special needs has its ups and downs. They reflect a belief that brothers and sisters have much to offer one another.
Goals Of Sibshops:
- To provide brothers and sisters of children with special needs an opportunity
to meet other siblings in a relaxed, recreational setting.
- To provide siblings with opportunities to discuss common joys and
concerns with
other siblings of children with special needs.
- To provide siblings with an opportunity to learn how others handle
situations commonly experienced by siblings of children
with special needs.
- To provide siblings with an opportunity to learn more about
the implications of their sibling's special needs.
- To provide parents and other professionals with opportunities
to learn more about the concerns and opportunities
frequently experienced by brothers and
sisters of people with special needs.

What Will Your Child Do At A Sibshop?
The Sibshop model intersperses information
and discussion activities with new games that are designed
to be unique, off-beat, and appealing to a wide ability
range. Because Sibshops are designed for school-age children,
peer support is provided within a lively, recreational
context that emphasizes a kids’-eye-view. So, be
sure to have your child wear comfortable clothes and
tennis shoes!
Program Dates:
The Spring 2009 Sibshops series will consist of three
Sunday sessions. Registration is for all three sessions.
Each series will be different and participants can continue
to attend in the future.

What is the cost of Sibshops?
A registration fee of $65 will cover all three sessions.
Snacks are included.
Cancellations
Refunds will be given up to one week before the program,
minus an administrative fee. After that time, no refunds
will be given.
